Anybody
can put on weight and anybody can take if off. There is no mystery to
losing weight, yet so many people have a hard time doing it. We have
already given you the weight loss formula of "Less food + more
exercise = weight loss" so why do many people seem to either
gain more weight or fail to lose anything that is noticable. Use our
10 Top Tips for Losing Weight and beat that "I tried but failed"
syndrome.
-
Find a Reason
If you don't know why you need to lose weight do you think you will
have a chance to succeed? Your reason will be different to mine, but
you do need to clearly know why you want to lose weight. Perhaps you
want to look good for your husband or wife. Perhaps you want to live
to see your children grow up. Perhaps your heart has told you already
that carrying too much weight will lead to an early death. Find a
reason and you have a chance of success.
- Don't lie to yourself
Don't kid yourself that your not fat so you don't need to lose weight,
or you don't eat much so it must be a genetic problem. If you didn't
need to lose weight, you wouldn't be reading this webpage right now.
If your fat, your fat and that's it. Only you can do something about
it, so don't lie to yourself. Do something right now that will take
you further down the road to weight loss success. One thing you can
do is keep reading this webpage. :)
- Write down your goals.
You need to commit yourself to reaching attainable goals. Write it down,
show it to someone who will give you encouragement, absolutely commit
yourself to attaining that goal. It's also good to write down a date
for when you want to be that slim figue that you desire. Go on, go get
that pen and write down your goal now. How serious are you?.
- Make a plan.
Sit down and write a rough plan on how you are going to cut down on
those calories. Think about the foods you now eat, which ones need to
be cut completely from your eating habits and which food will be best
to eat to attain the weight loss goal you have set for yourself. Write
in an exercise guide. What days will you go for a walk, will you walk
in the mornings or evening, what other exercises could you do to help
burn those calories?
- Get a set of scales
If you don't know what you weigh now, how can you know what you need
to lose? Scales never lie so you can look at a set of scales as your
best friend. The scales will tell you exactly how you are going, use
them each week to see your progress. Buy a good set and get to love
using them.
- Take a before picture.
Strip down to your underwear and get someone close to you take that
before shot. Print it out, post it on a blog, show others why you are
ashamed of yourself. If your too ashamed to do it, then you really need
to get it done. There is no better motivation to lose weight than detesting
the sight of yourself. The upside is the feeling of pure pride you will
have after taking off 10, 20 or 50 kilos. Bet you want your photo taken
then! (That's me on the right and it hurts to see that.)
- Eating the right foods.
Make a list of foods you like to eat and learn how many calories they
contain. You may be surprised to find that the types of foods you eat
are the cause of your weight problem. We hear all the time people saying
they don't eat much but put on weight easily. Rubbish, yes, rubbish,
and you probably eat too much of that too. Go back and read tip #2,
then learn to count calories before putting things in your mouth.
- Tell others you are losing weight
The more people that know you are on a weight loss program, the more
help and encouragement you will receive. Your true friends will be more
understanding and not put temptation under your nose. Tell them of your
plans and goals and let them know of your successes, no matter how small.
Share your life with them, they will be so pleased that you are doing
something so positive for yourself.
- Plan Ahead
If you are going to go somewhere that would normally include eating,
then plan so that you eat sensibly and keep within your calorie intake
targets. For example, you may be going out for dinner, eat sparingly
during the day and if the food is rich in calories, leave some on the
plate. Perhaps you go to the movies and have a large box of popcorn,
buy a small bag of popcorn in advance to take with you. There will never
be a problem with overeating if you plan in advance.
- Buy an outfit right now
Go out and purchase a good outfit that you would like to wear when you
reach your goal weight. It doesn't matter if you can't get it over your
thunder thighs right now, it's for the day you step on those scales
and see that you have reached your goal. That is the day to put your
outfit on and reward yourself for all the hard work. Just close your
eyes for a minute and picture yourself, how you will look, how you will
feel.
Dont make promises, make a start. Do it now!
