Steamed honey soy chicken kebabs
I
love food with a bit of taste and this recipes has loads of it and is
still low on calories. We try to keep everything around the 450 calorie
for dinner as we can then stay under our goal of 1500 calories per day
quite easily.
Each kebab is 150 calories so if you have 2 kebabs you can pile as
many vegetables as you can eat on the plate and have no problems keeping
the calories down to around 450 per serve. The home made garlic and
chives finishing sauce is only 20 calories per serve so no problems
there either.
The honey soy kebabs are so easy to make and are absolutely delicious.
Here's how its done.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 chicken breast fillet
- carrots
- broccoli
- zucchini
- 2 potatoes
Preparation:
The night before cooking this dish, gently warm the soy sauce and blend
the soy sauce and honey together. Dice the chicken and put them on kebab
skewers.
Place chicken skewers in a bowl and pour on the honey soy mixture. Cover the
bowl with wrap and place in refrigerator. Turn kebabs three of four times
before cooking.
You can also buy ready made kebabs from most supermarkets if you don't
want to go to the trouble of marinating your own. Each kebab will be around
150 calories either home made or bought ready made.
Cooking:
Place the kebabs in the steamer and cook for 15 minutes. Turn them over
and steam for another 15 minutes before placing your vegetables into the
steamer. Steam everything for another 10 minutes and serve.
We really find this satisfying and my wife has made a delicious home
made garlic and chive sauce to pour over the vegetables. You can find
the recipe to this on our sauce page by following the link above.
