The tables below give a guide only of calories contained in pork products. Please note that the amounts of calories - kilojoules indicated are average only and will vary slightly with different countries and differ between particular animals. Some animals will be fattier than others. It is interesting to note the difference in calories contained in pork between untrimmed cuts with fat on, compared to lean pork trimmed of fat. You can cut calories almost by half if you trim pork of all the fat. For example a loin pork chop with fat is 390 cals compared to loin chop trimmed of fat 210 cals. That's a substantial saving of calories in pork chops if you are watching your weight. Some countries now have a pork product called "New Fashioned Pork" or "New Age Pork". This is pork that is grown leaner on the farm and is similar in calories to lean pork. |
